Magical Meta (magicalmeta.ink) provides trading card game market watch tools, card price trackers, deckbuilders, collection tracking, and related written content. This page explains what information is processed when you use the site, and the third parties involved.

Information We Collect

We do not ask you to create an account or provide personal details to browse the site. Standard information is processed automatically when you visit:

• Server logs: IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, referring page, and timestamp. Used for troubleshooting, security, and understanding site performance.
• Usage data: Which pages and tools you use, collected through analytics and advertising services described below.
• Local browser storage: Features such as the deckbuilder, collection tracker, currency selector, and dismissible notices save your preferences and data in your own browser using localStorage. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

Advertising

Magical Meta is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service provided by Google LLC, to display ads on this site.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.com.
• More information about how Google uses data when you use our site is available in Google's partner policy.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you will be shown a consent message before personalized advertising cookies are set, and you can change your choice at any time through that message.

In a browser that has passed our Patreon supporter check, the site does not load Google AdSense, so the advertising cookies described above are not set by it while that verification lasts. That now holds on every page of this site, with no exceptions. An earlier version of this policy disclosed one: the home page, the deckbuilders and the articles index used to load Google's advertising script from the page's own markup, where the supporter check could not stop it, and the same was true of the Riftbound article pages. Google's script has since been removed from all of them, and every page that shows advertising now loads it through the site's ad loader, which is the part the supporter check controls. TCGPlayer affiliate links are unaffected and remain on the site for everyone. See the Cookies section below and section 12 of our Terms of Service.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google LLC, to understand how visitors find and use Magical Meta. It tells us which trading card games, sets, pages and tools people actually use, which is what we base decisions about what to build and maintain on.

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies in your browser and collects your IP address, an approximate location derived from it (country and region, not a street address), your device and browser type, the pages you view on this site, how you arrived, and certain interactions. The interactions we record are: clicks on TCGPlayer affiliate links, including which part of the page the link was in; switching between views on a market watch dashboard; and requests for pages that do not exist, which is how we find broken links. We use all of this only in aggregate. We do not use it to identify you, we do not attempt to link it to any other information about you, and we never sell it.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, no analytics cookies are set and no analytics data is collected until you consent through the same Google consent message described in the Advertising section above, and you can change or withdraw that choice at any time through that message. Outside those regions analytics runs by default, and you can opt out in any browser using Google's official opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, or by blocking cookies for this site.

Our Google AdSense account is linked to our Google Analytics property. This means advertising performance figures, such as how many ads were shown and what they earned, are reported alongside the analytics data about which pages were viewed, so we can see which parts of the site cover their own running costs. It involves no collection beyond what is described in this policy.

Analytics data is retained for no longer than 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically.

One thing worth stating plainly, because the Advertising section above may suggest otherwise: the Patreon supporter check turns off advertising, not analytics. A verified supporter is not shown ads and does not get Google's advertising script, but analytics still runs in that browser on the same terms as for anyone else, including the consent requirement above where it applies.

Cookies

Cookies and similar technologies are used on this site for the following purposes:

• Advertising: Google and its partners set cookies to measure ad performance and, with consent where required, to personalize the ads you see.
• Analytics: Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies, _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier for this site's data stream. Between them they distinguish one browser from another and hold session state, so that repeat visits and a journey across several pages are counted as one visitor rather than several. Both last two years. Neither holds a name, an email address, or anything you have typed into the site. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland they are not set at all unless you consent, as described in the Analytics section above.
• Preferences and functionality: To remember settings such as your selected currency or dismissed notices.
• Patreon supporter verification: If you verify a Patreon membership through our supporter check, this site sets two first-party cookies in that browser, both expiring after 7 days. mm_patreon_supporter records that the browser has been verified and when that verification expires. It is signed so it cannot be altered, and it cannot be read by scripts on the page. mm_supporter_hint holds nothing but that same expiry time as a number, and unlike the first one it can be read by the page. That is its whole purpose: it lets the site decide not to load advertising without having to ask our server first, so no visitor waits on a network request to find out whether they will be shown an ad. Neither cookie holds Patreon account details, a name, an email address, or anything that identifies you. Their only effect is that ads and the ad blocking notice do not appear in that browser. Clearing cookies for magicalmeta.ink removes both. The full terms of that benefit are in section 12 of our Terms of Service.

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the site work.

Third-Party Services

Magical Meta uses the following third-party services, each of which operates under its own privacy policy:

• Google AdSense for advertising. See the Google Privacy Policy.
• Google Analytics 4 for aggregate usage measurement, as described in the Analytics section above. See the Google Privacy Policy.
• TCGPlayer for card pricing data and affiliate product links. See the TCGPlayer Privacy Policy.
• Patreon for optional supporter memberships and supporter verification. Patreon handles all billing, and we never receive your payment details. During verification we ask Patreon only whether your membership is active and paid; we do not store your Patreon identity, name, or email address. See the Patreon Privacy Policy.
• Content delivery networks (cdnjs / jsDelivr) that serve fonts, icons, and JavaScript libraries

Affiliate Disclosure

TCGPlayer links on Magical Meta are affiliate links. If you buy something through one of them, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This helps cover data, tooling, and server costs. Affiliate relationships do not influence the pricing data we display, which is reported as sourced.

Children's Privacy and Minimum Age

You must be at least 13 years old to use Magical Meta, as stated in section 4 of our Terms of Service. This is a general audience site and it is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, email contact@magicalmeta.ink and we will delete it.

California Residents

The California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to a business only if it meets at least one of three thresholds: annual gross revenue above 25 million United States dollars, buying, selling, or sharing the personal information of 100,000 or more California residents or households in a year, or earning 50 percent or more of its annual revenue from selling or sharing personal information. Magical Meta meets none of them, so those obligations do not currently apply to this site. We would rather say that plainly than claim a compliance status the site does not have. If it grows past any of those thresholds, this policy will be updated and the additional notices and rights the law then requires will be provided.

Regardless of that, if you live in California you can email contact@magicalmeta.ink to ask what personal information about you this site holds, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or to ask that it not be used for personalized advertising. We will act on requests of that kind as a matter of practice. In most cases there is very little to send: the site has no accounts, deckbuilder and collection data never leaves your own browser, and what reaches our servers is limited to ordinary web request logs.

Personalized advertising is the exception. Where personalized ads are shown, information about your visit is made available to Google and its advertising partners for what the law calls cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not sell personal information for money, and we do not knowingly share the personal information of anyone under 16. You can switch ad personalization off at any time through Google Ads Settings, or use the industry opt out pages listed in the Advertising section above.

Your Choices

• Opt out of personalized ads through Google Ads Settings.
• Opt out of Google Analytics in any browser with Google's opt-out add-on, or decline analytics in the consent message if you are shown one.
• Block or clear cookies through your browser settings.
• Clear locally stored deckbuilder and collection data by clearing site data for magicalmeta.ink in your browser.
• Email contact@magicalmeta.ink with a privacy question or request, whether or not you live in California.

Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated as the site's features or advertising partners change. The "last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
